Introduction

Hi all! Connie Loizos here with a brief update: I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve been appointed as the new General Manager and Editor-in-Chief of TechCrunch. This role comes with both excitement and responsibility, knowing how integral TechCrunch has become in your fast-paced tech news journey.

With this new appointment, we’re diving deeper into our core strengths—namely, covering the dynamic world of startups and venture capital. As a former founder of StrictlyVC, a daily newsletter that Yahoo acquired, I bring firsthand experience in navigating this evolving landscape.

Coverage Strategy

First, TechCrunch will continue to focus on delivering high-quality journalism, but with an increased emphasis on providing deeper insights into the who, why, and how behind the stories. This means diving more deeply into the impact of startups, the motivations behind key decisions, and the strategies that drive success in this competitive space.

Original Reporting

Second, we’re increasing our efforts to showcase original reporting that hasn’t been covered elsewhere. While we’ll still provide updates on major stories you need to know, our focus will shift toward discovering untold narratives that matter to you. Whether it’s emerging technologies, underreported industry issues, or groundbreaking innovations, TechCrunch will be your go-to source for diverse and in-depth coverage.

Newsletter Updates

Third, we’re excited to expand our newsletter offerings. In addition to our core Startups Weekly digest, which remains your trusted hub for startup news, we’ll introduce new newsletters tailored to specific interests within the tech ecosystem. These will include updates on Fintech, AI/ML, and more, ensuring you stay informed across your areas of focus.

Team Update

Our team has remained strong during this transition. Matthew Panzarino, who joined us as our Senior Editor for Startups in April 2019, is now our Managing Editor for Startups. His leadership will continue to shape the direction of our coverage. Additionally, Joey Panzarino, a key figure in our history and editor since 2018, has transitioned into an Editorial Advisor role, bringing his extensive expertise and passion for startup news forward.
